Clocktower Classics returns to Portsmouth on Sunday 19th August, 10am-4pm, transforming Guildhall Square with over 100 classic cars from the 1950s onwards and starring the elegantly futuristic 1966 Batmobile!


Retro music entertainment includes tunes and a Q&A with Radio 1 legend, DJ Mike Read, Phil Freeman (formerly of Portsmouth bands Soul Society and Image) with his new band; The Class of 69 and vocal duo, It’s all in the Swing. Plus vintage hair demos by Tony Wood Hairdressing, stalls including a surname historian, The Swing Dance Company and with prizes for the best 50s and 60s outfits, dressing up is positively encouraged!

Clocktower Classics is the ultimate family day out with all the fun of the fair including Bowling, Crazy Golf, Buzz Game and Nerf Shooting, sporting activities including Table Tennis and Badminton provided by BH Live, a Virtual Reality Track Experience from Novatech, Retro Gaming and Scalextric with Game Over, a musical wonderland for 0-5s with Jiggy Wrigglers, face painting and more!  

With a variety of food and drink available all day and the last chance to see the Guildhall’s The Isle of Wight Festival, 1968, 1969, 1970 Exhibition prior to it ending in September, there really is something for everyone!

Tickets are available from the Guildhall Box Office for just £3 adults/£2 under 12s in advance or buy on the day for just a £1 more (under 5s are free). Entry is free with a valid ticket from Guildhall Games Fest on Saturday 18th August.

Proceeds from this community event go towards the development of a new Studio space within the Guildhall - a much needed facility to support emerging talent, develop a diversified programme and create an accessible hub for the community.

Access

There is level access to Guildhall Square where the cars and the majority of stalls and entertainment will be placed. If you require assistance whilst in our Grade II listed building, where additional stalls and activities will be placed, please ask a member of staff and we will help in any way we can.

There is gentle ramp access into our main foyer for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. From the main foyer you can access the stalls, our café and lifts to all other floors. Our staff can advise on the best routes and access points at the time of booking or on your arrival.

Portsmouth Guildhall has accessible toilets on the Basement level which can be accessed by lifts on both sides of the main foyer areas.

Hearing and Guide dogs are welcome but please inform Box Office at the time of booking.

There are a very limited number of on street parking spaces outside the venue.

Portsmouth is a great place to stay and make a weekend of it!

Home to the Historic Dockyard and its famous attractions; HMS Victory, The Mary Rose and HMS Warrior 1860, see the sites from 170m high at the top of the Spinnaker Tower, explore the city’s 2 miles of beach front and enjoy shopping and leisure at the waterside Gunwharf Quays.

Food & Drink

There will be a number of bars and catering outlets at Clocktower Classics and Square Kitchen will be serving a range of hot and cold drinks and snacks!

Please note Food & Drinks brought externally will not be allowed on the premises and Square Kitchen will not be open to non-ticket holders on this day.

Getting There

By Car

There is easy access into Portsmouth on the M275 from Junction 12 of the M27, with links to the M3 and A3 connecting the city with Southampton, Chichester, London and beyond.

There is a Park & Ride service situated at a purpose built location on the M275 entrance to Portsmouth.

Parking

Isambard Brunel Multi Storey Car Park has 460 spaces and is 200m from Portsmouth Guildhall.

There are a very limited number of on street parking spaces outside the venue.

Blue Badge holders are exempt from pay and display charges in Portsmouth City Council owned car parks – just display your badge. This is not the case with NCP owned car parks or the Isambard Brunel Multi Storey car park.

By Train


Portsmouth Guildhall is just a couple of minutes walk from Portsmouth & Southsea Train Station with frequent services operating from London Waterloo, Southampton and Brighton.

By Bus

Local and regional bus services stop at Commercial Road City Centre which is a 5 minute walk from Portsmouth Guildhall.

National coach services will stop at The Hard Interchange, a 15 minute walk or short taxi ride away.
